Mayor Mark Chilton issued a proclamation to recognize the momentous occasion of the Jade Palace 25th Anniversary that was celebrated in November, 2007. The proclamation stated that: "the Chans have served as model Carrboro business citizens by participating in civic affairs such as the PublicPrivate Partnership, providing education scholarships for college bound students through financial contributions to the University/ Community MLK Planning Corporation at UNC and participating in the teaching of the Chinese culture at local elementary schools…Jade Palace has been a fixture of downtown Carrboro's restaurant scene, serving an outstanding variety of Chinese and seafood dishes...the Town of Carrboro hopes their business thrives for another 25 years…in honor of their twenty-fifth birthday…(the Mayor) proclaimed Saturday, November 10, 2007 as "JADE PALACE DAY IN CARRBORO." State Senator Ellie Kinnaird, who is one of the original customers, also recognized the Jade Palace with a Certificate of Recognition from the Senate of the North Carolina General Assembly. Dr. and Mrs. Chan are grateful for this special recognition, and want to thank all their loyal customers, who travel from all over the state to visit and eat at the Jade Palace.
